7 Copywriting Formulas Coaches Can Use to Sell Any Offer

Copywriting looks like talent from the outside and engineering from the inside. The copy that sells coaching programs almost never comes from inspiration — it comes from formulas: proven structures for headlines, pages, emails and calls to action that you can fill in like a worksheet. This article gives you the seven we use in every coaching build, each demonstrated on a real coaching offer so you can see the gears turn.

1. PAS — Problem, Agitate, Solve

PAS is the workhorse of coaching sales pages because coaching purchases are, at their core, escape purchases — from a plateau, a scattered schedule, an underpriced practice. Problem: name the reader's 2AM thought in their words. Agitate: show what continuing to run the same playbook costs in a year — in money, energy, missed launches. Solve: introduce your program as the bridge, not the hero; the client is the hero, your method is the bridge.

Example for a business coach: "Most consultants bill by the hour and cap their income by the calendar. Every unsold hour is money that never comes back. The Offer Engine program turns your expertise into a product ladder that sells without you in the room."

2. AIDA — Attention, Interest, Desire, Action

AIDA structures the full page journey. Attention is the headline: outcome + timeframe + objection handled ("Land 5 High-Ticket Clients in 90 Days — Without Cold Outreach"). Interest is the opening story or stat that makes the promise credible. Desire is the offer stack, proof and transformation bullets. Action is one button, repeated, in outcome language — "Get the Blueprint", never "Submit". When a page "feels long", it's usually missing one of the four, not short on words.

3. The 4 Ps — Promise, Picture, Proof, Push

The 4 Ps shine for high-ticket pages where belief must be manufactured step by step. Promise the specific outcome. Picture life after it — a day in the reader's practice at full capacity, written in sensory detail. Proof is case studies with numbers, stacked next to every claim. Push is urgency with a spine: real cohort start dates, real application deadlines. High-ticket buyers don't resist price; they resist uncertainty. The 4 Ps exist to remove it.

Sell the after, not the during. Clients don't buy twelve modules — they buy the Tuesday their calendar is full of the right clients.

4. FAB — Features, Advantages, Benefits

FAB translates your deliverables into outcomes. The feature is "6 private coaching calls"; the advantage is "personalized feedback on every offer decision"; the benefit is "you stop guessing what to launch — and launch with confidence in six weeks". Coaches routinely sell features (modules, calls, workbooks) while buyers purchase benefits (confidence, clients, calendar control). Every bullet on your page should complete the sentence "so that…".

5. The "Star–Story–Solution" arc

For webinars and video sales letters, Star–Story–Solution outperforms everything: the star is a client (never you), the story is their before–turning point–after arc told in specific details, and the solution is the method that produced the change. One well-told client story moves conversion more than ten paragraphs of credentials, because stories are how buyers simulate their own success. Keep three client arcs on file — one fast win, one skeptic converted, one dramatic transformation.

6. Objection-flip bullets (the "FAQ in advance")

The highest-leverage copy exercise in a coaching build: list every objection from real sales calls — time, money, "will this work for my niche?", "I've tried courses before" — then write a bullet that flips each one. "Even if you only have 5 hours a week — the program is built for exactly that." This is pre-selling in writing, and it's why our pages include an objection section before the pricing section. The same list powers your nurture emails, so nothing is written twice.

7. The personalized CTA pattern

HubSpot's research found personalized CTAs convert 202% better than generic ones — and for coaches, personalization means echoing the reader's goal in the button. "Book My Free Strategy Call" outperforms "Contact Us" because the reader completes the sentence about themselves. Apply the pattern everywhere: "Send Me the Blueprint", "Show Me the Pricing", "Start My Funnel Audit". Small change, enormous lift, zero cost.

How the formulas fit together on one page

A high-converting coaching sales page is usually: AIDA headline (formula 2) → PAS opening (formula 1) → 4 Ps middle (formula 3) → FAB offer bullets (formula 4) → Star–Story–Solution case study (formula 5) → objection-flip section (formula 6) → personalized CTA repeated after every major block (formula 7). We assembled this exact stack for our own page templates — and you can see a filled example in the landing page copy template in the free resource vault.

Frequently asked questions

Which formula should I start with?

PAS. It's the shortest to learn, works everywhere — pages, emails, posts — and forces the two questions coaches most often skip: what exactly hurts, and what does it cost to keep hurting?

Can AI write my copy with these formulas?

AI drafts fast inside formulas, and that's its best use — but the specifics (client numbers, turning points, niche language) must come from you. Formula + your real details converts; formula + generic details reads like everyone else's page.

How long should a sales page be?

As long as the price and objections demand. A $27 template needs 400 words; a $5,000 program needs every objection answered — often 2,000+. Length isn't the risk; unanswered doubts are.

Formulas remove the blank page; testing removes the guessing. Rewrite your headline in PAS this week and watch one number — scroll depth or opt-in. And if you'd rather have the whole page engineered by people who do this daily, book a free strategy call.
